Dan Miller Qunitet Live at the Arts League of Bonita Spring: Bonita Springs, FL

  • Arts League of Bonita Springs 10150 Bonita Beach Road Southeast Bonita Springs, FL, 34135 United States (map)

On April 27, 2018 (Friday) join Lew Del Gatto and I at the Center for the Arts Bonita Springs as we celebrate the legacy and music of Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers featuring the legendary drummer Marty Morell (member of the Bill Evans Trio 1968 - 1974) tenor saxophonist Jeff Rupert, pianist Richard Drexler and bassist Brandon L. Robertson.

Art Blakey was one of the most dynamic musicians and leaders in the history of jazz music. His energy and swing were unparalleled as he lifted the bandstand each and every night. His bands were filled with some of the greatest improvisers and composers who then went on to lead their own groups. The program will feature many of the songs that are identified with Art Blakey including compositions by Horace Silver, Benny Golson, Bobby Timmons, Lee Morgan, Wayne Shorter and Freddie Hubbard. Trumpeter Dan Miller built his reputation touring and recording with Harry Connick Jr., Wynton Marsalis, Maynard Ferguson and Woody Herman. He brings together a tremendous group of musicians for an evening of hard swinging acoustic jazz music including tenor saxophonist Lew Del Gatto (Saturday Night Live Band 1975 - 2006 & Frank Sinatra), tenor saxophonist Jeff Rupert (Maynard Ferguson & Mel Torme), pianist Richard Drexler (Bob Mintzer & Jeff Berlin), bassist Brandon Robertson (Count Basie) and the legendary drummer Marty Morell (Bill Evans Trio 1968 - 1974).
